Leadership Berkeley is designed to develop informed, engaged community leaders who are committed to making a positive impact in Berkeley County. Through a series of interactive and educational sessions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of our community, its challenges and opportunities, and the people and organizations working to make a difference.

The program provides participants with opportunities to:

*Learn directly from local and regional leaders

*Explore key industries, organizations, and community resources

*Gain a deeper understanding of Berkeley County and the Eastern Panhandle

*Connect and build relationships with fellow community leaders

*Develop leadership skills and broaden their perspective

*Identify opportunities to become more engaged in our community

We are excited to welcome a new class of leaders who are ready to learn, connect, lead, and invest in the future of Berkeley County.

Tuition must be paid in full prior to the start of the program.

Nomination & Selection

Each year, approximately 25 participants are selected to represent a diverse cross-section of Berkeley County and our surrounding community. Participants may come from business, education, government, the arts, civic and faith-based organizations, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, and other sectors of our community.

We seek individuals who have demonstrated leadership potential, a commitment to community service, and a desire to take on greater leadership roles within their organizations and community.

Nominations

Nominations are welcome from all sectors of the community. Individuals may nominate themselves or nominate someone else who embodies the mission and values of Leadership Berkeley.

Chamber membership is encouraged but is not required to apply.

Selection Process

The Leadership Berkeley Committee reviews all completed applications based on established selection criteria. The committee strives to select a class that reflects the diversity of our community, experiences, professions, and perspectives.

To encourage broad representation, no more than one participant per business or organization will be selected for each class.

If an applicant is not selected, we encourage them to reapply the following year. Each class is different, and continued interest in Leadership Berkeley is welcomed and encouraged.

Organizational Support

All participants must have the support of the organization or employer they represent and understand the time commitment required to fully participate in the program.

We believe Leadership Berkeley is strongest when participants are supported by their organizations and are able to fully engage in each session, build meaningful relationships, and bring what they learn back to their workplaces and the community.

I understand that failure to meet the attendance requirements above will not allow me to graduate from the program. I will arrive on time for each meeting, stay for the entire session, and not accept, make or arrange for personal or business phone calls during a session, unless it is an emergency. I will use discretion in discussing material presented during Leadership Berkeley programs in order to foster an atmosphere of open discussion. I will complete any assignments, projects, ect. for each session as required. I will support the Leadership Berkeley program by actively participating in each session.
